Bicycle Accidents
Here in the Lowcountry, we have many neighbors and guests who are cyclists. It has become a very popular mode of transportation in Mount Pleasant and Charleston to say the least. In some areas of these municipalities, bicycle lanes have been drawn or installed to ensure a safer ride for cyclists Not all roads have this, but all roads certainly welcome bicycle riders to “Share the Road.”
With cycling’s growing popularity as a mode of transportation and recreation there has been an increased risk to cyclists. Just last month in Blufton a cyclist was airlifted to a hospital for severe injuries sustained after being run down by a hit and run driver. The rider was wearing light-colored clothing at the time of the accident; and the bicycle had reflectors with a flashlight in the basket.
