Holiday Highways

The Thanksgiving holiday is the busiest time of year for travel. People want to be with family and/or close friends for the festive holiday. Whatever the mode of transportation, all avenues of travel are busier than usual. The highways pose more of a risk during the holiday travel season than any other mode of transportation. In many cases, holiday highway accidents can been avoided and lives can be saved.

As motorists, it is important that we pay attention not only to the road, but also to the other driver. It is important to remember that the road must be shared by cars, motorcycles, trucks and very large container trucks. Accidents involving large trucks happen more often than they should, causing catastrophic injuries or even death It certainly does not need to be explained why highway accidents involving large trucks can be fatal. Here are a few road safety tips to keep in mind this holiday season and beyond:

1. WEAR YOUR SEATBELT,

2. Do not drive while under the influence of alcohol,

3. Do not drive when drowsy,

4. Watch out for the other driver as you may be in another driver’s blind spot; and

5. When passing another vehicle be sure you can see their headlights in your rear view before pulling in front of them.

Not all accidents can be avoided, but the victims of highway accidents can recover from the negligent person(s) responsible. If you or a loved one has sustained injuries from an automobile accident the team at Traywick & Traywick can help. We will hold the person(s) responsible for the damage that has been caused to you.
