FAQ - How Do I Pay the Lawyer on my Injury Claim?
FAQ – How much does Traywick & Traywick charge me to handle my personal injury or workers compensation claim?
Many clients are straight up scared to deal with an attorney. Usually, that is because they haven’t worked with a lawyer before – and thank God for that! Lawyers have a reputation for being expensive, intimidating, and sometimes even schyster-y. Regrettably, sometimes that reputation is well-earned. But in our experience, clients get comfortable with us very quickly because we get straight to the difficult issues and get them on the table right away – clients respect and appreciate that.
Among the difficult items we discuss right away at Traywick & Traywick is the fees and costs of our firm lawyers handling your personal injury lawsuit or claim. In the personal injury (car wreck, medical malpractice, defective product, trip and fall, or other accident where you are seeking compensation for a bodily injury) or worker’s compensation context,Traywick & Traywick will work on a contingency basis. A contingency fee agreement means that our firm will represent you and your case, do all of the work, invest all expenses and costs, in exchange for a percentage of the proceeds of any recovery. You might as well think of it as a commission – we don’t get paid unless we make the sale.
You will be consulted prior to any significant expenses being invested in the case, as costs eventually get deducted from the client’s recovery compensation. The benefit of the contingency arrangement, for both attorney and client, is clear: both parties have a decisive interest in maximizing the total recovery. Crassly put, the more the attorney makes, the more the client makes – or, diplomatically put: the more the client is compensated, the more the lawyer is compensated. It is clear in such an arrangement that both the lawyer and the client are on the same side of the table, both actually as well as economically.
